Baby Killers

I can think of a lot of things to call people, but none as hurtful or damning as "Baby Killer". While our American soldiers fought and died in VietNamh this is how they were refered to. You probably didn't want to remember that. You probably don't want to think of how we treated the brave men and women who fought on foreign soil back then... our American soldiers. You probably don't want to think about the shame we brought upon ourselves back then by the way we treated our own people.

While missinformed celebrities and protest marches publicized the dark side of humanity that is war, our American soldiers fought and died. They returned from an "unpopular war" to be spit on and abused by their own people, without even the respect or benefits afforded to past war veterans... after all, the "war" was really only a "police action".

Did atrocities happen? Of course they did. War is dirty, nasty, dangerous, and very dark. It can bring out the very worst in people, but it also brings out the very best in people... things like honor and courage and sacrifice.

Those of us who have the luxury of sitting here in our nice homes and shaking our heads over the wisdom of sending our Americans overseas tend to forget sometimes why they are there. In this case, has everyone forgotten that America was actually attacked by a terrorist group from a foreign country on September 11th? Can anyone remember their history well enough to recall what happened when America and others ignored Hitler for nearly too long? He calmly gobbled up one little country after another while the rest of the world turned their heads because it was "none of our business". If not our business, then whose? Do we have to wait until somebody is goose stepping or bombing their way into the White House before we consider them threatening enough? Read Full Article

I won't debate the right or wrong of us being envolved in military actions, but let me say that I have all the respect in the world for all the men and women who are risking their lives for the rest of us. Freedom has a price that many of us forget all too often.

To all our Americans who are far from home in some country because it's your job, because you're an American, and because you're a soldier:

When it's all over and done with this time, I'm just hoping we get the job done right. Do what ya gotta do, get the job done and come back home safe.

No one can possibly imagine what to expect or what life is like in the military unless they've been there. No one, unless they've lost all their marbles, really wants to be in a war zone. You and anyone else who have to be in that situation, as I have said before, have my utmost respect. My respect is based on my admiration for your bravery and courage.

I have to reiterate... I don't want you or any other man or woman in combat. I don't want you or any other soldier, either male or female, to have to face anything in a war zone.

Since I can't personally stop you from having to go to war my only option is to try and let you know that I care. When I say things like "People forget the price of Freedom" I'm talking about politicians and others, not about you and other Americans who are paying that price while the rest of us sit at home and bitch about it.

I have no influence on whether you will or will not have to be deployed, I wish I did. I repeat... If you DO have to go keep your damned head down... and come back safe.
